Roll Tide Roll!

Uncle D's Ring - Caden 2 weeks.
Go Caden!
Caden will be allowed to choose his own team and cheer for any college he wishes...
as long as it is Alabama (according to the Lyerly side of the family).

Fun Times with Daddy

After bath fun times with Daddy. Check out his little squeal/scream. Caden has started to make this noise all the time.

I found a Bumbo at a garage sale this weekend and Caden looks like such a big boy sitting up in it. I love garage sales for baby stuff and clothes. The Nike onesie he has on in the picture is a garage sale find as well (and of course, football is on in the background).

What big eyes you have....

Tummy Time

Getting stronger and stronger every day.

Oh the Places You'll Go!

Updated 09/22/10 with more states

Caden is a very well traveled little boy. I am writing this as I sit in my Brother-In-Law's living room in Tuscaloosa, AL (Roll Tide!), but Alabama is just the latest state on his long list of states visited (and we won't even count all the places I lugged him to while pregnant). He is a champ on airplanes and has only really cried twice - once at the end of our first trip to Portland and once when the tray table fell open and smacked him right on the head. He stopped crying about five seconds later and went back to sleep.

Caden's State List

  • Ohio (obviously)
  • West Virginia - we've crossed the border a couple times
  • Virginia - driving through to a wedding, but it totally counts if you have to eat and change a diaper in that state.
  • North Carolina - same as above
  • South Carolina - wedding and Court's hometown
  • Oregon - visiting my friends the Caves and the Doleacs
  • Washington - twice already! Catherine's hometown and a wedding
  • Texas - wedding in San Antonio
  • Kentucky - driving through to Alabama (and Cincinnati's airport is actually in Kentucky), but again - food and diaper totally counts
  • Tennessee - saw Caden's Godfather and changed a diaper in a country music bar
  • Alabama - Penn State vs Alabama, but Caden did not go to the game. Court and I didn't want to be "those people." We'll also visit my grandma, Caden's Gigi.
  • Georgia - drive and diaper (Added 09/22/10)

Caden and I made a trip to Washington in August for my 10 year high school reunion. He got to spend time with my parents and their beagle, Daisy. Caden LOVES dogs and Daisy was no exception. The video is from our first night there, after a full day of travel. My favorite part is the routine - Daisy barks, Caden laughs, Mom and Dad laugh and then tell Daisy to speak and it starts all over :) The other thing to notice is how strong our little boy is and if he is awake, he's moving.

That is the only video or picture I took the entire trip - I know - pathetic, but my mom has more on her camera that I can upload later.

We had a fun trip and can't wait to go back. I miss the West Coast!

Four Months Old!

Caden had his four month check-up and shots today! He was a champ - a big one! Check out these stats:

At 4 months:
your child is 17 pounds, 2 ounces and that is at the 79th percentile for weight.
your child is 27.75 inches, and that is greater than the 97th percentile for height.
your child has a head circumference of 17 inches, and that is at the 64th percentile for head circumference.

The doctor said he is average size... for a 9 month old! He will probably be tall and skinny since a normal weight for his height is 20 lbs (or so the doctor says).

We don't care. We love this little guy no matter what size he is.

Thanks G-Momma!

My mom was able to come over to Ohio and watch Caden while Court traveled to Virginia for two weeks to work.

Thanks G-Momma! Caden is lucky to have you.

(She hasn't decided what she wants to be called yet, so for now, I get to use whatever name sounds good at the time!)

Splish Splash I was takin' a bath...

Caden loves bath time. He has started to splash with his feet only, and is so serious about it. He doesn't smile, but you can tell he's having fun. I have a video I have tried to upload, but I can't make it work. We'll see if I can figure it out.

His bedtime routine has been a blessing for us and was the suggestion of some good friends of ours that use it for their little girl.

  • Bath - He loves the bath and on days we skip it, he doesn't sleep as well - he stays asleep, but I can hear him restlessly moving on the monitor.

  • Eat - If we take too long putting pajamas on, he lets me know "Mom, I'm ready to eat." He knows what comes after a bath and he doesn't want to wait.

  • Book - If he doesn't fall asleep while eating, then Court or I will read him a story. He loves his Panda book and will look at those pictures. If we read a different story, it's just more time to babble back to us.

  • Bed - Even when he isn't acting sleepy, we put him in bed with his pacifier. If the hands approach his head, we are golden. He will usually spit out the pacifier in favor of his thumb.

He sleeps through the night 95% of the time. Since July 3rd, we have only had two nights where he has woken up between bedtime and 4am. However, after 4am, all bets are off and he could wake up hungry at any time.

Summer Look

My future's so bright I've gotta wear shades.

Monday, August 9, 2010

Whoa! It's been a while....

Well, since our last post in September 2008 (I guess we fell off the wagon), Court and I have done a lot!
  • New Year's in Lake Tahoe

  • Moved across country to Jackson, OH in January 2009

  • Trips to San Francisco, San Diego, SC, WA, San Antonio, Chicago and more that I can't remember right now

  • Court got into adventure racing and has done races that last up to 12 hours.

  • Oh, and we had a baby!

Caden was born April 24, 2010. He weighed 8 lbs, 11 oz which is actually smaller than both his parents were as babies.

He is always moving and likes to talk! The video shows some of his favorite "words." Please excuse my singing - I'd say turn off the volume but then you'd miss my sweet baby's babbles.

I'm not going to promise to blog daily, but I think weekly is a good goal. Heck, anything is better than every 18 months.
